In 2010, SkinnyPop was launched from a small Chicago popcorn shop who sold their simple but addictive snack to local stores. Their brand developed and grew rapidly, driven largely by word-of-mouth stemming from their strong social media presence. What was once a small local company is now a multi-billion dollar brand owned by Hershey Co.
In 2014 when the brand was still locally-owned, we designed SkinnyPop’s website. The home page features a scrollable social media “wall” which is dynamically updated with posts from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube – creating an always new, always fresh experience capitalizing on SkinnyPop’s cult following on social media. The site was built with a fluid, responsive layout, which was still a fairly new approach to web design at the time. We designed the product pages with flexibility in mind, as SkinnyPop was rapidly adding new flavors and products to their line.
Although SkinnyPop is in a much different place today, the website we built has stood the test of time and, much like their popcorn, the design remains clean, unique and impressively fresh.
